LONG BEACH, California, Nov 7, 2025: Toyota announced the 2026 GR86 Yuzu Edition, a limited-run model designed to expand the automaker’s GR sports car lineup with distinctive styling and performance enhancements. The special edition, finished in Yuzu Yellow, will be limited to 860 units for the North American market and is expected to reach dealerships in the fall of 2025. The GR86 Yuzu Edition builds upon the GR86 Premium grade, combining visual upgrades and performance-focused components. Its exterior features 18-inch matte-black alloy wheels and contrasting black detailing on the mirrors, rear spoiler, and other trim elements.

The bright Yuzu Yellow paint pays tribute to the Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0, a model that helped establish Toyota’s presence in the affordable sports coupe segment. Inside the cabin, the Yuzu Edition adopts a black Ultrasuede-trimmed interior accented with yellow stitching across the sport seats, steering wheel, door panels, and parking brake handle. The sport seats feature yellow perforation patterns to match the exterior color scheme. Standard amenities include an 8-inch touchscreen multimedia system, digital instrumentation, and an eight-speaker audio system. Performance upgrades distinguish the Yuzu Edition from the base GR86 and GR86 Premium grades.
The model comes equipped with Brembo brakes and SACHS dampers, providing increased braking performance and chassis stability without compromising handling agility. These components, available as part of a performance package on other GR86 grades, are standard on the Yuzu Edition. All 2026 GR86 models, including the Yuzu Edition, are powered by a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder boxer engine producing 228 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The engine can be paired with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, both featuring a Torsen limited-slip rear differential for improved traction in cornering.

The manual transmission variant accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour in approximately 6.1 seconds, while the automatic version achieves the same in 6.6 seconds. Weighing 2,811 pounds in manual configuration and 2,851 pounds with the automatic transmission, the GR86 maintains one of the lowest curb weights in its class. Lightweight materials, including an aluminum hood, front fenders, and roof panel, contribute to the coupe’s responsive handling. The chassis incorporates high-strength steel, hot-stamped steel, and aluminum components to enhance rigidity and steering precision, while structural adhesives reinforce the underbody.
All GR86 variants are equipped with Toyota’s Star Safety System, which integrates Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Anti-lock Brakes, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, and Brake Assist. Automatic transmission models include an additional suite of driver-assistance systems such as Pre-Collision Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, and Automatic High Beams. Standard safety features across all grades include seven airbags, Hill Start Assist, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System. Each new GR86 includes a one-year trial of Toyota Connected Services, covering Safety Connect, Service Connect, and Remote Connect.

These systems provide emergency assistance, vehicle health reports, and remote control capabilities via smartphone or smartwatch. An anti-theft system with an engine immobilizer and alarm is also standard across all grades. Reflecting its motorsport origins, the GR86 Yuzu Edition continues Toyota’s collaboration with Toyota GAZOO Racing and the National Auto Sport Association. Purchasers will receive a complimentary one-year NASA membership that includes one free High Performance Driving Event, allowing owners to experience the vehicle’s capabilities in a controlled environment. Toyota’s 36-month, 36,000-mile basic new-vehicle warranty applies to the GR86 lineup, supplemented by a 60-month powertrain warranty and corrosion coverage with no mileage limitation.
ToyotaCare provides factory-scheduled maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles and 24-hour roadside assistance for two years with unlimited mileage. The program also includes multi-point inspections, oil and filter changes, and tire rotations performed by Toyota-certified technicians. Customers also benefit from roadside towing, battery jump-starts, lockout assistance, and emergency fuel delivery. Pricing and detailed specifications for the 2026 GR86 lineup will be announced later in 2025. – By Content Syndication Services.
